Chopping the top:

Jeff Whitaker - Semmes Alabama -

February 2000

I used 1/8th inch fine line striping tape around the body. (1/8th = approx. 3 scale inches)
Then I made the cut all the way around, taking the top off, using a Zona razor saw.

Since the bottom half is the stronger of the two, I then cut the 1/8th inch off of that.

This left me with a top that was too short and too fat in the rear. So I cut the top cross wise 3/4 of the way back, then added the 1/8th pieces to this cross cut to lengthen it.

This still left the tops rear piece too wide for the body.  I split this down the middle and simply filed the two halves until they were the correct size.. all this was then glued back together.

To "pin" the windshield pillars for strength,  I used a # 72 drill bit on both halves, and used super glue to secure the pin wire inside. Then I used MEK (TenX , Ambroid Pro Weld etc) and strip styrene to join the posts together and filled it in.

I kept brushing the MEK on, until the strips were soft enough to go down into the cracks. Then it was a matter of putty, primer, and block sanding inside and out till it was smooth.

and then took it on it's maiden test drive.....
